When kids first start learning the game of basketball there is a lot of "traveling," or walking while holding the basketball. Once you stop dribbling, you are not allowed to take additional steps. You are allowed to "pivot," or leave one foot planted in one spot while the other foot moves.
Step 1: Athletic Position
Keep your knees bent.
Protect the ball from the defenders by keeping your elbows out.
Step 2: Keep one foot planted in place.
Pretend one of your feet is on a dot on the ground. That foot has to stay on that dot, but the other foot can move. This allows you to move in a circle around the dot.
Step 3: Keep your eyes up and find a teammate to pass to.
