Things you need:
Balloon (10″x 7″ works well)
What this works on: Catching, movement, coordination
A fun activity for inside or outside. Stand about 3 feet away from your child and pass her the balloon. Aim at your child’s chest. Gradually move farther away and make your tosses higher and to the sides – this will force your child to move her feet to catch the balloon.
Have your child start 15 feet away from you and run towards you…toss the balloon so she can catch it on the run.
Have your child jump off a step and catch it.
Bat the balloon back and forth with your hands without it touching the ground. Also use your head and feet.
Make a net with chairs or a string and allow 2 touches before hitting it over the net. Add racquets. Keep score to add some competitiveness.
Your child should make her hands just a little bigger than the balloon she is catching.
Explain that she should watch the balloon from the time it leaves your hands until it is in her hands.
