To move around the court with the ball, you have to be bouncing the ball, also called "dribbling" the ball.
Step 1: Athletic Stance
Your feet should be shoulder width apart and knees bent. It should feel like you're sitting in a high chair.
Step 2: Dribble
Use fingertips/pads of fingers, don't slap the ball with palm of hand.
The ball should hit firmly on the ground, but you shouldn't let it get above your waist.
Practice with both hands.
Keep your head up and look around so you can see where the other players are.
